We’re looking for someone who is passionate about the environment to help us with our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data, getting insights into our Net Zero progress and extending further into the new area of biodiversity footprinting.
We work with our strategic partner, Microsoft using their technology to calculate our GHG emissions and would like to develop this further to measure our land and water use impacts.

What will you be doing?
As a Data Research Science Apprentice (DRP24), this is a great opportunity to become part of our growing BBC team who uses your postgraduate programme to develop skills in areas like:
- The fundamental mathematical & computational techniques of Data Science
- Machine learning
- Statistical modelling
- Handling large and complex datasets
- Image and text analysis
- Digital Media
- Social and legal context for data analytics
And you’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job.
What does the role lead to?
After the scheme this will typically lead to role as a Data Scientist.
This scheme starts in September 2024 and is a 36-month MSc programme.
What are we looking for
If you love using mathematics and technology to solve problems then we need to talk! We’re recruiting graduates with plenty of ideas and great communication skills to join our team of Data Scientists. We’re not expecting you to run before you can walk, that’s why it’s an apprenticeship. But with support from our teams and the University of Exeter, we’ll help you to fulfil your potential.
To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must:
- Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in September 2024
- Be legally allowed to work in the UK full time
- Hold a 2:1 degree or above in a numerate subject
- Have sufficient competency in Maths and Python
