Build on your professional experience towards becoming a Production Manager at BBC Education in Salford. Develop your existing skills, while gaining a thorough knowledge of the BBC and play a key part in shaping BBC content.
You’ll learn on-the-job as part of a BBC production management team, developing your knowledge and skills in an area that interests you, while working towards your Level 7 apprenticeship qualification.

What will you be doing?
- Get production management experience at the BBC, honing your skills in all aspects of the job from preparing information, devising schedules, and making sure shoots and post-production all run smoothly.
- Learn to lead a production team by managing and revising budgets, keeping productions on schedule, and managing junior team members.
- Work with BBC production experts, learn best practices and look for ways to continually improve and set the standard for future generations of BBC programme makers.
- Study for your Level 7 Production Management apprenticeship, learning on and off the job.
Where does the role lead to?
After the scheme this will typically lead to a Production Coordinator or Junior Production Manager role. This scheme starts in September 2024 and is a 2 year apprenticeship.
The placements on offer include the following: BBC News and Current Affairs (London), BBC Three (London) and Children's and Education (Salford)
What are we looking for
To be eligible for an apprenticeship, you must:
- Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in September 2024
- Have Maths and English GCSEs at 9-4/A-C or National 5s (Scotland) at A-C or equivalent
- Have relevant industry experience or transferable skills
- Be legally allowed to work in the UK full time
- Have been resident in either the UK or EEA since September 2021 (Not applicable for Scotland & Wales or individuals under the statuses within EP350 such as Homes for Ukraine)
What we're looking for is your drive for making great content happen. If you have some previous experience working as a production coordinator, or come from an industry with highly transferrable skills, and are passionate about making new content ideas a reality, we want to hear from you.
You’ll need to demonstrate you:
- Have successfully managed and delivered previous projects, demonstrating that you have successfully managed and worked in a team
- Have brilliant organisational skills and are great at problem-solving and negotiating
- Can manage multiple deadlines and demands on your time
- Have a calm and focused approach to changing circumstances
- Have a keen interest in the BBC and how people consume content, bursting with fresh ideas to introduce new perspectives
- Are an enthusiastic self-starter, flexible and adaptable to out-of-hours working
In addition, throughout the selection process, we’ll be looking for evidence of how you demonstrate each of the BBC’s values and behaviours. Our values inform everything we do. They define what you can expect from the BBC, and what the BBC expects from you.
We are looking for those skills and fresh ideas you can bring to the BBC. What's also important is that you have a passion for Production Management.

- A starting salary of £25,000
