    The Marketing Assistant is responsible for supporting the BD Integrated Diagnostics Solutions (IDS) marketing team in all aspects of tactical marketing.

    This will include supporting the sales team with exhibitions and events, management of the IDS library and demo stock, various aspects of marketing communications including digital tools and general marketing administration.

    The role will report to the Head of Marketing and work closely with the IDS sales team, clinical team, professional services and EU Marketing team.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Internal & External Events

    • Support the screening of incoming external event opportunities by reviewing factors such as agenda content and audience type and highlight strategically relevant opportunities to invest in.
    • Take the lead on the project management and coordination for events –incl. planning, co-ordination and execution of exhibitions and study days.
    • Assist with review and co-ordination of exhibition collateral (such as ‘up to dateness’ of banner stands, literature and product display cases)
    • Accountable for exhibition preparation and logistics e.g. preparing or coordinating the choice of samples, stand selection, literature and courier arrangements prior to an event.
    • Develop & maintain relationships with organisations linked to key events: ABC, IBMS, UKMedLab, Microbe etc.
    • Review and support advertising opportunities where appropriate, co-ordinate with media buyer. Publication & interaction with media buyer, co-ordination of investments.

    Ethics and Compliance Approval Processes

    • Ensure the correct procedures for all the necessary documentation and approvals are completed and tracked in appropriate system.
    • Coordinate Purchase Orders & invoices for all sponsorships/events approved through Compass and marketing spend.
    • Manage budget tracker.
    • Manage “Miscellaneous Payments” process for one-off payments to vendors.

    Graphic & Material Support

    • Provide day-to-day general and marketing support across marketing portfolio.
    • Co-ordination of development of creative marketing collateral working with graphics dept. e.g. bespoke conference posters, training support or new sales support materials, material specific to conferences, exhibitions, study days and special events.
    • Support through creative & copy ideation to and text and graphic layout.
    • Digital and Web – NHS-SC updates, BD content support (imagery and product details).
    • Ensure application of global brand guidelines to materials.

    Lead IDS Marketing Dashboard

    • Develop and manage repository of success stories.
    • Development and lead on dashboard from UK Marketing team

    Materials Approvals

    • Manage BD approvals process until a new procedure is implemented for the whole of BD.
    • Manage approvals process of new materials once a new procedure has been implemented for new BD.

    Samples and Marketing Materials

    • Manage ‘Print Store’ or equivalent processes, responsible for monthly coordination of supply of samples and sales material to the field based teams in line with appropriate processes.

    Collateral & Sales Tools

    • Provide sales team with basic product knowledge, competitor information and sales tools in support of marketing where appropriate.
    • Coordinate and update iPad and BD library content. Ensuring currency and alignment with EU marketing guidelines.
    • Ensure appropriate website updates

    Shared Responsibilities

    General

    • Updating the Customer Relationship Management System with enquiries, leads and opportunities
    • Maintain and update investment spreadsheets across BUs where necessary
    • Handling of customer, customer care & sales team queries
    • Provide day-to-day general and marketing support across marketing portfolio.
    • Provide support to the UK&I sales team on events, customer calls and in event where business requirements suggest; e.g. support on basic customer conversions. Multiple overnight travels are required as appropriate.

    Promotional Items

    • Periodically review promotional item options and supply for the sales team as appropriate.
    • Develop and maintain sales/events kit for sales team

    Key Competencies

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Educated to Degree level in marketing or business-related discipline
    • Will suit recent graduate or someone with 1-3 years’ experience in a marketing support role
    • Healthcare or pharmaceutical industry or technical product experience an advantage
    • Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification an advantage
