About procurement
The Procurement and Supply Chain Management function is a dedicated global team which looks after direct materials procurement, indirect materials and services procurement, risk management, project procurement, supplier readiness management, procurement systems and central functions and diversity/minority supplier sourcing. As an Industrial Placement at Bentley you will be working alongside and being mentored by Procurement experts giving you real–life tangible experience to elevate your career journey in Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
There are three industrial placements available

1) Procurement
Our Procurement Industrial Placement is a chance to collaborate with and be mentored by professionals, delivering innovative ideas from the initial concept stage through to completion, where Bentley products are delivered to our global customers. Procurement is the key to embracing all of this, the gateway to Bentley’s future-facing vision. We have six specific areas of responsibility within Procurement – Direct Sourcing, Indirect Sourcing, New Project Introduction, System & Process Management, Value Engineering and Supplier Management – each responsible for different elements of the car, projects and the Bentley site. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the indirect procurement team in delivering the sourcing plan to ensure the business can successfully achieve its electrification targets
- Network with the wider VW Group including Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini to identify opportunities for collaboration and efficiency
- Develop solutions to potential procurement hurdles and engage with the team to ensure they are implemented
2) Supplier management
Within the Supplier Management team we are responsible for securing parts from reliable suppliers enabling Bentley production to build cars every day for our Global customer base. We resolve supply issues, manage critical suppliers to support new product delivery for our new models and are pro-actively improving our supply base to secure Bentley’s future. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support Bentley’s decision making over new suppliers to ensure they can support Bentley’s success
- Opportunities to get close to the products and visit Bentley suppliers
- Network with the wider VW Group including Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini and Ducatti to identify opportunities for collaboration and develop exciting products to be proud of
3) Systems and processes
Within the Systems and Processes team we are the central function for all Procurement. We ensure continuous improvement, digitalisation of the landscape and enable the strategic direction of Procurement. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Contribute to the delivery of the end-to-end Process Strategy and deliver continuous improvement through processes efficiency and cross functional collaboration
- Support the roll out of change to Process or Systems, engaging with a wide range of audiences and using influencing skills to ensure successful transitions
- Develop solutions to any procurement obstacles and engage with the team to ensure they are seen through to completion
About you
The successful candidate will be on track to achieve a 2:1 in the following degrees: Economics, Business, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a degree discipline that includes Digitalisation and Strategy. It would be advantageous to have prior work experience in a project management or customer service related role. The successful candidate will:
