Position Summary
This position, officially titled Commercial Sales Support, is an ideal opportunity for a graduate looking for a direct-entry sales role. The primary role responsibility is to drive Bio-Techne sales by providing administrative support to the sales team as well as generating leads and directly selling to clients where appropriate. It will hold responsibility for nurturing and supporting existing business with a particular focus on industry clients such as pharmaceutical organisations, biotech companies and contract research organisations. This role will be based in the Abingdon, UK office.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and Nurture Existing Business
- Proactively drive sales growth.
- Use a selection of channels to support and develop new/existing business opportunities for Bio-Techne in the life sciences industry, including live inbound enquiries via the website, outbound cold calls, inbound/outbound emails, digital platforms and social media.
- Keep all channels of communication open with internal and external sales team colleagues in the region.
- Lead generation and marketing to ensure a cohesive team for maximum customer support.
- Work in partnership with Marketing, Technical Service and Account Manager colleagues to execute bespoke projects to drive revenue growth.
- Ensure new industry customers are onboarded to business in an effective and efficient manner, providing continued support through new set ups and long-term customer management.
- Work closely with Sales Specialist team to ensure customer needs are met in terms of product information, quoting and technical support.
- Act in a commercially aware way to unlock new business opportunities through existing customers as well as live interactive web chats.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of marketplace and competitors. Report findings and potential pipeline with a high urgency and frequency.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject.
- An understanding of the Life Science Market.
- Awareness of the Pharmaceutical and CRO market would be a advantage.
- Strong spoken English.
- Some experience of working within a customer care/sales environment - eg retail - is advantageous but not required.
- Experience of using own initiative and working in a target driven environment.
- Ability to track return on investment (ROI) and key performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Possess excellent IT skills; including experience of working with databases, Office Outlook, using Excel and Word are essential.

- Ability to work to deadlines and build strong relationships cross functionally.
Hours for this role are Monday-Thursday 9-5:30 and Friday 9-5. Occasional work outside these hours may be required.
