About the Job
This post is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Skills and Simulation Technician to support our clinical skills practice facility known as SPACE. This is an innovative practice area open to our students within healthcare disciplines. Students are able to use medical equipment and resources to practise a wide range of skills in a safe, supportive, and creative learning environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful appointee will provide technical and administrative support for SPACE including preparation, clean up, maintenance of human patient simulators and associated computers/software, maintaining inventories of assets and maintaining storage areas.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Supporting students practicing clinical skills within SPACE
- Working with the academic lead to create workshops, bringing new ideas and move the initiative forward.
- Maintaining equipment to a high standard including preparation and cleaning of patient simulators and associated software and other medical equipment.
- Keeping the virtual learning environment up to date with relevant information and to create new content when required.
- Maintaining good health and safety within the environment including keeping documentation up to date.

Skills and Experience
You may have an undergraduate degree in a medical or other health related discipline or an equivalent combination of education/experience in a similar technical or clinical role. The minimum qualifications include BTEC, HND, NVQ (level 3 or above) or equivalent with a minimum of GSCE maths and English language or equivalent.
The role requires a strong understanding of workplace health & safety, excellent communication skills and a positive attitude as well as the ability to work independently at times.
