This is an exciting role within our Marketing and Communication Department to support with organising both in-person and hybrid recruitment events such as Open Days, Applicant Taster Days and campus tours.
We are looking for someone who is detail orientated and organised to slot into our innovative and forward-thinking team.
You will be responsible for contributing towards the planning and delivery of large-scale recruitment events which will welcome thousands of prospective students to BCU.
The Post Holder
- You will manage elements of the planning stages of events and be available to support the event on the day. It is therefore essential that you are well organised, have good time-management skills and remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Support the planning and delivery of the University’s corporate recruitment events – Open Days, Applicant Taster Days, campus tours and Postgraduate events, including liaising with faculties, departments and external organisations as necessary.
- Stakeholder liaison with both internal and external suppliers.
- Providing general support to the wider Recruitment Events team both in the lead-up and on the day of events.
- Support the Recruitment Events Manager and Officers to ensure that multiple, often large scale, activities and events are able to run simultaneously, prioritising appropriately, and managing workload.
- Helping to ensure the necessary staffing levels of Student Ambassadors for each event.
- Aid the Recruitment Events Officers to plan and carry out the training and supervising of Student Ambassadors in advance of and during events.
- Assist in ensuring the effective delivery of virtual and hybrid events, including for International audiences.
- Assist in ensuring the effective delivery of reputation building activities.
- Ensure that appropriate risk management processes are operational within own areas of responsibility.
- Assist and support the wide range of activities undertaken within the Department in support of student recruitment, including open days, applicant visit days, business/community events, Clearing and the production of marketing collateral.
Essential/Desirable Attributes
- Organisation
- Organisation skills and being able to manage multiple tasks to a deadline is essential.
- Managing people and resources
- Supervise and brief Student Ambassadors at events, along with supporting the wider Marketing and Communications team who will be working at these events.
- Communication
- Communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences in order to influence. This can vary from internal colleagues who will be supporting with the event to external suppliers providing a service.
- Teamwork and collaborative working
- Teamwork will be essential to ensure all of areas the planning stages for each event are covered.
- There needs to be support provided to colleagues where necessary and valuable relationships maintained across the University.
- Initiative, problem solving and decision making
- Experience of thinking on your feet and making quick, concise decisions is essential.
- Background
- A background of working in the events sector or FE/ HE is desirable.
- H&S
- A background of working with Risk Assessments and Method statements in desirable.
