Your starting salary will be £11.44 an hour in your first year. During your second year you will remain on this amount or the minimum wage for your age, whichever is higher. We can also offer you 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, an excellent pension and a number of discounts including gym membership.
About the role
We are looking to recruit an Engineering Trainee to join our Highways and Transport Service, based at Duke Street in Blackburn Town Centre and part of the Growth and Development Directorate.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy and friendly office dealing with all aspect of Highways and Transport, including Network Management – how we managing the traffic, including pedestrians, cyclists and public transport, on our highway network, Asset Management – how we manage our highway assets including the roads, bridges, structures, street lighting, Highway Inspections – a statutory duty to ensure the network is safe for all road users, Drainage and Flood Risk Management – how we managing the water on the network and reduce the flood risk to properties and businesses, Programme Management – the management of a highways capital programme of improvements worth in excess of £15million and Design and Development – design of highway improvement schemes.
The role will be a mixture of office/site based work, which will allow you to enhance and build on the technical skills required for this position. Giving you the breadth of knowledge needed for a foundation in highways and transport related career. It is an opportunity, for someone who has a level 4 qualification in a related field to develop their career further through being involved in shaping the highway and transport infrastructure of Blackburn with Darwen.
