Bloomberg runs on data, and data drives the market. Our Data team acquires and supplies this data to our clients. Teams work collaboratively to collect, analyze, process and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal - the data ultimately feeding and moving the financial markets.
Our products run on intelligence and industry-specific insight provided by Data’s Company Financials team. Across the Company Financials vertical, we move markets by providing our clients with sought-after financials that are normalized across industries and companies, key analytical ratios, and industry-specific data points.
The Earnings Extraction team at Bloomberg is responsible for maintaining automatic extraction of key performance indicators from company earnings documents by building regular expression rules and table extraction rules, which extract targeted key performance indicators close-to-real-time. These rules focus on the most relevant, market-moving data points, publishing this data to headline news stories, terminal functions like MODL (allows you to see a company’s estimates and actuals) and Enterprise data feeds. The Earnings Extraction team additionally manages the workflow with which our team of vendors operates and bespoke Business Intelligence solutions that power up operations, reporting and provide insights to our stakeholders like News and Engineering.
