We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised and confident communicator with excellent time-management skills and attention to detail to work within our dynamic and ambitious International Sales department.
The International Sales Assistant performs a key support role within the wider International Sales team, working across all Bloomsbury Consumer, Head of Zeus and Special Interest titles, and with our client publishers Alma Books and Titan Books. The role will include assisting in the day-to-day administration and operations of the team and supporting sales to customers around the world, including bookshops, distributors and online retailers. This role will report to the Head of International Sales.
This is a superb opportunity to join the high performing and award-winning International Sales team of a top 5 UK publisher and to work in a vibrant and successful publishing sales environment. Based in our Bedford Square office this will be a hybrid-working position.
The role
- General support for the International Sales team
- Fielding queries from customers and processing orders through our distributor
- Working closely with the warehouse and Bloomsbury Operations team to be sure of successful supply to all accounts
- Maintaining the key titles order form and presentation
- Creating slides for internal sales meetings
- Preparing sales figures for customer meetings and book fairs
- Running title sales reports when requested
- Preparing the team for and attending book fairs in person
- Responding to requests for catalogues / book samples / AI sheets / book jackets
- Representing the International Sales Team at ad hoc internal and author meetings
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Excellent communicator who is confident with dealing with people at all levels, particularly on the phone and over email/video
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on efficiency and a keenness to learn
- Excellent time-management, prioritisation and organisational skills, with a close eye for detail and keen awareness of deadlines
- Experience of multi-tasking and prioritising a busy work-load with competing demands on your time
- Ability to adapt to changing daily tasks
- Strong numerical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams
- No previous experience of publishing is necessary for this role!
As an Assistant role, this position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme.
