    You will be working closely with the Information Services and the Data & Insights teams to support the evolution and maintenance of the data lake(s)/repositories within our organisation, with a focus on leading the governance of organisational data.

    Responsibilities

    You will also be working closely with the Head of Data & Insights to establish and develop a network of reporting specialists across the organisation, in order to bring together expertise in different areas to develop and share best practice

    With the Data Manager, you will be working towards simplifying, standardising, streamlining and automating data processes and review data quality and defining measures to improve data quality.

    • Translating user needs for data and insights into documented requirements, lead privacy by design solution engineering and spearhead the design of solutions that provide maximum value from organizational data in support of Blue Cross’ strategy
    • Championing and contributing to the delivery of our data strategy, supporting our vision for our information to be trusted, accessible and used to change the lives of pets and people
    • Ensuring the Data & Insights team are appropriately represented at key internal and external forums so that data and insights are central to evidence-based decision making
    • Clearly specifying, documenting, and justifying reporting requirements at an organisational level
    • Leading requirements gathering workshops with key stakeholders
    • Fostering trusted and productive relationships with colleagues across the organization, working with users and Information Services colleagues to translate data and insight requirements into workable solutions that meet user needs
    • Proactively managing changes in scope, identifying potential risks and devising contingency plans
    • Working closely with stakeholders across the organization to embed best practice information and data lifecycle
    • Taking an active role in the ongoing governance of Blue Cross content, including implementing best practice, championing, and embedding editorial guides, and sharing your knowledge.

    About you

    You will have experience of data management/governance principals and the importance of good metadata and master data management with an appreciation for data quality, how to assess it and address issues.

    Your effective verbal, written and presentation skills enables you to work with both technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels of an organisation, and to negotiate, influence, engage and quickly build credibility with colleagues and external parties.

    • Knowledge, skills, and experience
    • Experience of leading or facilitating creative workshops, both virtually and in person
    • Demonstrable experience on ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ process modelling
    • Able to plan, organise and structure work
    • Strong numerical skills with the ability to manipulate and digest high volumes of data
    • Strong problem-solving abilities involving identifying the root cause of problems, assessing risks/impacts, and determining and implementing effective solutions
    • Showcase good written and oral communication skills
    • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
    • Ability to find pragmatic solutions to requirements that align to existing functionality/architecture where possible
    • Knowledge of data management/governance principals and the importance of good metadata and master data management
    • Working knowledge of databases as well as unstructured datasets
    • Promote consistent understanding of data management principles across the organisation.
    • The ability to demonstrate, understanding and apply our Blue Cross values.

    Desirable qualifications, skills, and experience

    • Knowledge/experience in Power BI, Excel, SQL
    • Good knowledge of data structures, data formats and data governance principles.
    • Awareness of the stages of the data lifecycle
    • Excellent stakeholder management skills
    • Data mapping and modelling experience
    • Experience working with Data Engineers/Analysts/DBAs
    • Experience with ETL concepts and tools
