Our small but perfectly formed animal hospital in Hammersmith, has a high caseload, with two consulting rooms, a prep area and theatre, Xray, ultrasound and lab. We are incredibly well equipped, including multiparameter monitors and drip pumps for our anaesthetised and critical patients. We provide free or discounted vet care to pets whose owners receive certain means-tested benefits and live within the catchment area. This is a fast-paced environment where our nurses have a lot of autonomy and scope to develop their skills.
Your responsibilities will include duties such as
- Monitoring and administering treatments to patients in kennels and maintaining records.
- Radiography
- Maintaining anaesthesia and surgically assisting the veterinary surgeon in theatre
- Preparing samples in the laboratory for postage and performing some routine laboratory tests
- Providing great customer service and an experience inductive of maximising donations and promoting a positive and productive Blue Cross experience.
- Provision of nurse clinics to include vaccination clinics and education of the general public with regard to pet welfare
Weekend shifts are approximately 1:6 for full time staff and we cover around 1-2 bank holidays per year at our Victoria hospital where you can put your emergency and ward nursing skills to good practice.
Very occasionally, where cover may be needed, our nurses cover weekday shifts at our Victoria or Merton hospitals
