The New Business and Collections Process Intern role reports to the New Business Process and Collections and Recovery Specialists within the Operations Department.

The New Business function is a business area with three key teams: Underwriting, Sales Support and Contract Implementation (Payout). The Collections & Recovery function is a business area with two teams, Collections and Recovery and Recovery Litigation.

As New Business and Collections Process Intern, you'll be in an interesting position where you'll interact significantly with all three New Business and Collections & Recovery teams together:  getting involved in activities which will bring you into contact with other teams from across the business. These will include Finance, Compliance, Operations, Sales and IT. You will be involved with assisting in ongoing process improvement initiatives, process reviews and process mapping. You will also provide support on the production of an interactive training library for New Business and Collections & Recovery.

What will you be doing?

This internship will support the New Business and Collections & Recovery Process Specialists. The role holder will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Support the continued New Business and Collections & Recovery process reviews by assisting with the organisation of process review workshops and completion of following up actions, including process mapping.
  • Work with the New Business and Collections & Recovery QA Analyst on actions for improvements driven from the QA results.
  • Support in the creation of a training material for New Business and Collections & Recovery.
  • Support projects as required, including recording action points for steering committees and management meetings.
  • Maintenance of the New Business and Collections & Recovery Process Management internal internet pages.
  • Take ownership of & run cross departmental, weekly 'Change Huddles' to create new ideas and initiatives for change. 
  • Support the management and implementation of the Business Change Enhancements raised by and implemented in New Business and Collections & Recovery.

Qualifications and Experience

This internship would suit someone who's keen to get an overall insight of several different functions of a business and enjoys dealing with multiple stakeholders.

The applicant should be studying towards a business-related degree but is not a pre-requisite (on target for a 2:1 or above). Please note that our intern opportunities are only open to students who will be returning to their studies following their placement with us.

The role requires:

  • Excel skills must be at an intermediate level as the role requires work with Excel spreadsheets on a daily basis.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Strong numerical and reasoning skills.
  • Strong communication, influencing and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to adapt working approach depending on specific requirements.
  • Confidence to challenge the status quo and put forward suggestions for improvement.
  • Ability to work at both a detailed and high level.
  • Ability to be pro-active, self-starter with a high level of initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise activities, work under pressure and multi-task.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Competent knowledge of MS Office suite (specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Individual must be outgoing, inquisitive and confident with a professional approach.
  • Confidence to communicate with senior management.
  • Ability to work remotely from home when required.

Training on bespoke internal systems will be provided.
