    We are offering an interesting and challenging position for a Data Scientist to work within the Quality Function of the BMW Group Plant Hams Hall.

    The graduate scheme is a 24 month programme where successful candidates work on a wide variety of topics and projects related to data science and experienced through a varied placement program throughout the various Departments in the Plant. The Graduate programme also includes an International placement at a BMW site.

    When in hams Hall you will be an integral asset to our data and digitalisation strategy. Our manufacturing systems produce significant amounts of data and we need data scientists to analyse and explore the potential within this data to support our business opportunities including the integration of systems data to create the ultimate digital twin to support our strategic vision of being Lean, Green and Digital.

    What will you be doing?

    • Working within the Plant's Quality function but also closely aligned with the Innovation team in an agile project management environment and collaborating with global partners.
    • Data mining, applying statistical methods and predictive analytics on big homogeneous data sets.
    • Working with large data sets on big data platforms (e.g Hadoop, AWS, Spark).
    • Developing dashboards and analytical tools.
    • Improving production processes and efficiency using machine learning techniques.

    Qualification

    • Studying towards a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics or other quantitative field and on track to achieve a 2:2 or above.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • High intrinsic motivation, creativity, project management skills and entrepreneurial thinking.
    • Strong programming language skills in one or more of the following (e.g. Python, Java, C#, C++, R).
    • Experience with Excel and data visualisation tools, preferably PowerBI.
    • Understanding of Oracle / SQL databases.
    • Familiar with data mining, machine learning, statistical signal processing and pattern recognition.
