    Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world. Three UK plants have had a part to play in MINI production – Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint, and final assembly.

    Facility and Equipment Planning Placement

    If you have an inquisitive mind, enjoy problem solving whilst working in a fast-paced production environment, this could be the internship for you. Our team works closely with both production teams and external suppliers to install a wide variety of innovative automation and engineering solutions. Our team comprises of experienced engineers with a wealth of engineering and project management knowledge.

    Over the 13-month period we will be working towards new model launches and several equipment/facility upgrades.

    What will you be doing?

    • We are responsible for all aspects of Facility, Special Tool and Structure Planning here in Assembly at MINI Plant Oxford.
    • You will be part of the team that works on new vehicle launches, supervises the vehicle series production and its optimization, as well as running changes.
    • You will be working alongside our planners to co-ordinate the preparation and implementation of projects as well as supporting shutdown operations.
    • You will be responsible for the analysis and evaluation of important production and business data.
    • One successful applicant would ideally be of a Controls / Electrical bias, who might get involved with tasks surrounding our vision, control systems and performance analysis.
    • One successful applicant would ideally be of a Mechanical and Design background, who could get involved with evaluating assembly drawings to effectively implement modifications, to our production line.

    Qualifications and experience

    • Studying towards a relevant Engineering degree with a predictive grade of 2:2 or above (Electrical, Mechanical or similar)
    • Good time management is required.
    • Good analytical skills, ability to learn quickly and to think outside the box is highly desirable.
    • Advantageous skills would include programming, adaptability into new environments and good self-organisation.
    • Candidates should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of all standard Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Project. Previous CAD experience would also be beneficial.
    • Proficient in English, communication and interpersonal skills are also highly desirable with an ability to summarise and present topics clearly.
