Global Middle Office Operations has overall responsibility for operations covering Asset Servicing, Trade Management, Treasury, Transitions, Reconciliations, and Client Reporting & Derivatives. This role comprises of circa 700 staff globally.
The role
The business management function is generally the point of first contact between the business and all support and control functions with specific responsibility for tracking performance and costs (direct and indirect), management reporting, control framework integrity, compliance and regulatory matters, maintenance of business continuity plans, change management and technology. Business Management also plays an important role in coordinating with different stakeholders too proactively address changing business needs.
Global MO analyst role is responsible for assisting the senior business manager in the duties of the overall department. The role will consolidate and analyse strategic data across Middle Office locations and require the candidate to develop best practice in data management and visualisation. In parallel, the role will be actively involved in the documentation of activities, tasks and controls to ensure audit standard documentation is in place across the Global Operating model. The ideal candidate will be analytical, proactive, have an ability to articulate messages clearly and succinctly and have a natural enthusiasm for learning.
Key Responsibilities
Management Information
- Assist in the development of global reporting methodology across key performance metrics e.g. headcount, volumes, productivity
- Manage global stakeholders to ensure timely receipt of required M.I. Store and manage key information to allow for review by senior members of the team
- Question where appropriate material variances in data and where necessary document explanations provided to support positions prior to senior management involvement
- Evolve current reporting templates to reduce manual workload and employ digital solutions e.g. PowerBI to optimise data visualisations
Budget Management
- Build out knowledge of location financials and understand mechanics behind global financial reports totalling over EUR100m
- Document monthly variances across revenue and expenses throughout locations and raise on a timely basis issues requiring senior involvement
- Take a holistic view of financials based on understanding of headcount, volumes and other contributory factors
- Contribute to reduction of costs across locations through understanding of finance allocations with ultimate aim to improve sustainability and ensure a positive trend in Unit Cost
Risk and controls
- Help with the documentation of the control framework by understanding the Central Control Libraries and engaging with Global Process Owners to manage amendments / audits
- Create presentations / visualisations to make clear to all members of the leadership team the risks identified, mitigating controls and audit evidence of control efficacy
- Attend monthly risk forums and document key points and actions
Governance
- Attend and actively participate across global management forums
- Input on agenda topics, collate materials and document action points
- Manage delivery of action points
