    Position Overview

    This post is for a Digital Services and Analytics Intern to work within the information technology function starting in July 2023.

    As part of the digital services team you will be involved with various functions providing critical deliveries for our customers. You will get a chance to work developing and maintaining basic database objects and databases. Supporting database backup, recovery systems and database migration. Creating database user access accounts. Assisting with hardware and software implementations and assisting others to monitor database performance trends.

    Position Responsibilities

    As part of the Data Services Internship Programme, candidates can expect the following:

    • Working in an agile development environment
    • Incident management
    • Being an active member of our refresh project, upgrading our database stack to the latest versions of Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Informix, Ingres and DB2
    • Implementing automation in order to refine our process & procedures through a lean initiative
    • Hands-on experience of sprint planning, review, and SCRUM
    • Exposure to other teams and systems within BDUK

    Essential Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • Right to work in UK - We do not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
    • Studying a degree course

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • Good GCSE in Mathematics and English.
    • Demonstrates an ability to pick up new technologies and to follow technical instructions, willing to learn new skills.
    • Degree level or appropriate work experience in this area.
    • Preferred degree Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, Science and Engineering. Will consider any other related degrees.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.

    Relocation

    This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
