    We give children the reading skills and confidence they need for a fair chance in life, through our flexible volunteer-led programme. Programme Development is vital to the charity: it means our work stays up to date with the latest best practice in the education space, that our volunteers have the resources to hold engaging and effective reading sessions and that the organisations that support us remain active, committed partners.

    Location

    Minimum two days per week based at the Bookmark office (London), with flexibility around home working for the remaining days

    Programme development

    • Work with the Head of Schools, Programme Development Manager and wider Schools Team to develop and implement new service lines to schools​
    • Work with the Head of Schools and Schools Team to develop, plan for and produce book packs and other existing package benefits for partner schools e.g scrapbooks and Rocket Packs​
    • Support the Programme Development Manager with the development and implementation of the Literacy Partner Programme​
    • Support with the identification of external partners and work with them to develop the Bookmark Literacy Partner Programme in line with the evidence base and improve Bookmark’s school packages​
    • Proactively look for innovative ways to develop, improve and refine these projects and packages​
    • Collaborate with the Programme Development Manager and Impact team to ensure new projects and service lines remain evidence based with measurable outputs. ​
    • Talk to schools and hold consultations with them to identify their literacy needs​
    • Work with the Programme Delivery Manager to create action plans to support whole school reading cultures within schools​
    • Create and manage the delivery, and printing if necessary, of collateral materials for book packs e.g. Your Story Corner and Rocket Packs​
    • Responsible for keeping book pack projects and existing school packages service lines up to date e.g. scrapbooks, within agreed budgets, raising necessary POs and delivered on agreed timelines​
    • Assist with creating all reading resources for the online programme. Create and update internal record of all resources filterable by theme/level/publisher​
    • Communicate and coordinate new projects and service lines with stakeholders across the charity​
    • Actively encourage idea sharing from the wider team, school community and wider stakeholders to support programme development​​
    • Support to deliver a range of activities and initiatives, to ensure the most effective use of time and money in achieving the required outcomes​​
    • Support the Programme Development Manager to consult with Head of Volunteering to update and maintain volunteer training, ensuring it is in line with best practice and evidently linked to reading for pleasure pedagogy​
    • Support the Programme Development Manager and Volunteer Team with delivery of skills sessions for volunteer pool. Create resources or training modules for reading skills​
    • Assist with creating and updating volunteer resources to support upskilling their ability to specific children e.g. Year 5 pupils​

    • Identify and support on collaborations and partnerships with other organisations that align with our vision and values to support more children​, and support us to achieve our aims​​
    • Support the Programme Development Manager with the recruitment, training and overseeing of interns. ​
    • Input and maintain accurate and up-to-date information on our systems, including Salesforce CRM and SharePoint​​​
    • Ensure that all activity helps to build Bookmark’s brand and is always brand compliant​​

    • Teaching experience essential  ​​​

    • Salesforce and / or SharePoint experience desirable ​​
