We improve children's literacy by promoting a reading for pleasure culture in primary schools, with a focus on supporting children in the most disadvantaged communities. 

We give children the reading skills and confidence they need for a fair chance in life. We are seeking part-time session delivery executives to support the delivery of our One-to-one Reading Programme. 

You’ll deliver sessions in our partner schools via our online platform and support volunteers with the delivery of their sessions through drop-ins, tea breaks and co-ordinating local delivery hubs. 

Overview

  • Contract type: Fixed-Term to 31 July 2025
  • Hours: Part-time at 10 hours per week; these will be shift-based in 2-4 hour blocks. Hours are only available during school term time, and accrued annual leave is taken during school holidays.
  • Salary: UK Living wage (£12.60 outside London, £13.85 in London) £126.00-£138.50 per week [(£24,570 to £27,007.50 FTE)]
  • Location: This role is home-based and requires your own IT equipment
  • Deadline:  Rolling closed by 28 March
  • Latest expected start date: 14th April 25,

Job Description

  • Support the delivery of our One-to-one Reading Programme by working with schools to deliver reading sessions
  • Run volunteer engagement activities such as open sessions, engagement drop ins, and community attraction events in regional hubs
  • Contribute to enhancing the experience of both schools and volunteers by maintaining resources and assisting with targeted administrative projects.

Person specification

We’re seeking someone who will be:

  • Passionate about literacy and its importance 
  • Proficient in computer skills, including the use of our online reading platform, our training and our Volunteer Hub 
  • Fluent in English and a competent reader 
  • A good communicator with excellent listening skills
  • Reliable, punctual and committed to supporting children’s literacy
  • Able to work professionally, independently as well as collaboratively with other
