About the Role
The candidate will contribute their software skill set and expertise to all stages of the medical device development and sustaining engineering activities across a number of projects.
The engineer will be required to develop technological solutions and lead all activities relating to the electronic development. Your responsibilities include:
- Develop and test software as part of a system, document and troubleshoot issues, and work with instrument and hardware
- Partner with cross functional team on hardware selection for new designs
- Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support a wide range of products
- Participate in software system architecture development and document software requirements and development plan
- Perform detailed design analysis and reviews with hardware engineering team to achieve product performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability requirements
- Track firmware related issues and lead resolution of issues with a well-documented and methodical approach
- Develop firmware test and verification plans and protocols, and conduct prototype testing and verification testing
- Work closely with other engineering teams to debug/integrate
- Collaborate with program managers to create and manage development plans and project plans related to software development
- Contribute to the creation and update of relevant software documentation, risk management documentation, issue tracking, configuration management, test reports etc.
Requirements/Experience
- Level 8 degree in relevant electronic, electrical, computer science engineering discipline essential
- Must have graduated within the last two years or be due to graduate by September 2023
- Relevant work experience/ co-op programme completed
- Strong system skills and aptitude
- Good communication skills, teamwork abilities and initiative
- Proven ability to work well as part of a team & on own with minimum supervision
- Enthusiastic self-starter
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Eligible to work in Ireland
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic, Computer engineering or equivalent
Experience Requirements
- Knowledge of C, C++ on microcontrollers/microprocessors or FPGA devices
- Good knowledge in Linux operating systems
- Expertise with Embedded fundamentals and interfaces
- Strong HW / FW bring-up and debugging skills. Must be able to work with hardware lab equipment
- Experience in technical specification and report writing
- Must have the ability to work well with a variety of individuals from various disciplines and backgrounds and the ability to also work independently
- Experience with communication buses such as I2C, SPI and RS232
