The Investor Relations team

The Investor Relations team is responsible for the external communication of British Land’s equity story and for the control of information to analysts and investors enabling them to make informed decisions on an investment in British Land.  British Land delivers a formal update to the market twice a year, following its year end in March and half year in September. 

The IR team is responsible for managing this process which includes a formal financial press release and presentation from senior management as well as the annual report which is produced at year end.  Detailed, accurate and timely financial and sustainability data is an important part of this process.  Outside results, the team delivers a comprehensive IR programme including dedicated events, typically focused on one part of the business, roadshows and participation in conferences as well as drafting press releases updating the market on material developments within the business. 

The IR team also respond to investor queries on an ad hoc basis and develop close working relationships with analysts as they build their financial models on British Land.

The role

We are looking for a motivated, numerate and detail orientated individual to support the Investor Relations and Substantiality teams. Working closely with both the IR and Sustainability Managers, the role involves a diverse range of responsibilities within the IR and Sustainability reporting programmes.  The role will sit within the Investor Relations team and will report to the [IR and Corporate Sustainability Lead].

Key responsibilities

Investor Relations

  • Supporting the IR Manager in the delivery of the interim and year end results presentations
  • Maintain the IR peer group information database
  • Ensure records of key peer group external performance metrics and top level 3 year forecasts are kept up to date and effectively organised
  • Contribute to the production of Board IR Reports and other Ad hoc reports.

Sustainability

  • Supporting the wider team with the ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting processes
  • Working with the Sustainability Managers to compile sustainability information for investor and joint venture reporting.
  • Supporting the delivery of projects that contribute toward British Land’s sustainability targets and performance in ESG benchmarks.

Requirements

  • Degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, and experience of working with data
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; a problem solver; proactive; a finisher
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work independently within a fast-paced team, and to tight deadlines at certain points in the reporting calendar
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Office suites, advance skills in PowerPoint and Excel (pivot tables, advance formulae)
  • Project management skills 
  • Enjoy working as part of a motivated and busy team

Desirable

  • Educated in a finance related subject
  • Experience or familiarity with the Property sector
  • Experience with relevant software packages, such as
    • PowerBI (or similar Business Intelligence packages), or
    • Advanced analytical tools or techniques (e.g. programming in VBA or R)
