    Our innovative, exceptional Sustainability team is growing. We have a lot to do! Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, you will be responsible for the overall delivery of sustainability projects.

    The role

    You will liaise with colleagues and develop and demonstrate technical attributes including: ownership of projects; being a strong team player and; a professional with a proven ability to think creatively, act tactically and efficiently, with successful delivery of design projects.

    What you'll do 

    • Responsible for the overall delivery of sustainability projects, ensuring that a high standard of technical advice and general professional conduct is maintained at all times and in accordance with Bryden Wood standards and procedures
    • Maintaining communication with line manager, keeping informed of progress and seeking assistance to address project delivery.
    • Participate and run project sustainability workshops, and seminars
    • Represent Bryden Wood in design team meetings
    • Be aware of company standards and procedures

    Technical 

    • Support the design to implement sustainable strategies for projects, including energy, carbon, wellbeing, water, waste, materials and circular economy
    • Support the development of analytical frameworks of the economic, environmental and social issues in buildings, cities and large area masterplans
    • Carry out energy and carbon flows of design options for projects
    • Carry out embodied carbon calculations
    • Carry out energy, daylight, solar and thermal comfort simulations
    • Support the group to produce, technical information, reports, presentations, graphics and digital models
    • Support the team in developing new tools to assess environmental impacts and apply them to our projects
    • Conduct research into existing and new low energy and low carbon sustainability techniques and procurement and integrate the results into our projects
    • Keep up to date with developing trends, practices and legislation at global scale.

    About you

    • A degree in engineering, architecture, or a similar field
    • Technical knowledge of building physics
    • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
    • Personable, approachable and flexible
    • Strong analytic and communication skills
    • Strong IT skills and capability to develop new analytic tools

    Desirable technical/software experience

    • Energy modelling (IESVE, Tas or similar)
    • DIVA/Ladybug/Honeybee/Radiance
    • Embodied carbon analysis
    • BREEAM/WELL/LEED and other international certifications
    • MS Office
    • Adobe creative suite.
