What sort of projects do the consulting team work on
100RC Melaka / Tbilisi / Jakarta
We are currently working with 100 Resilient Cities to develop resilience strategies for the cities of Melaka (Malaysia), Tbilisi (Georgia) and Jakarta (Indonesia). We are supporting these cities to understand their present resilience status in terms of shocks, stresses and potential scenarios affecting city assets. This process includes extensive engagement with key city stakeholders.
C40 - Benefits of Building Energy Retrofits / Benefits of Urban Climate Action
Buro Happold is currently engaged with C40 to deliver a study to examine the Benefits of Building Energy Retrofits. The aim of this project is to quantify the wider benefits associated with deep energy retrofits in buildings. The scope of the project includes the development of an Excel-based methodology enabling cities to quantify the benefits and using these numbers to drive retrofit policies and portfolio-wide programmes. The methodology will then be tested with three pilot cities. Cities will be selected in a later stage of the project; however, it has been identified that the work should focus on cities in developed countries within the Northern Hemisphere.
We have also recently concluded a study with C40 Cities to evaluate the air quality, health and economic benefits of urban climate action. The purpose of the study was to drive climate actions by enabling cities to quantify the benefits related to them and involved technical workshops with a large number of city organisations from around the world.
Kenya / Uganda Logistics Clusters
We are currently working with Trade Mark East Africa to support their delivery of trade and logistics cluster within the EAC. The objective of these clusters are to facilitate job creation through unlocking constraints to value addition in export orientated sectors. We are currently assisting TMEA through the provision of economic development, urban planning and financial modelling support for projects within both Kenya and Uganda.
Jakarta Transit Orientated Development (TOD)
The team is engaged in a wide variety of TOD projects within Jakarta. We are currently providing a range of economic development and urban planning support to key clients to enable them to unlock urban development around new transit stations within Jakarta.
