    What would I do?

    In this role, you will support the GIS and Digital Twins team in the delivery of Buro Happold’s GIS/Digital Twin strategy. The candidate will also be responsible for undertaking research and development into geospatial services and application of new technologies, including developing 3D virtual cities and digital twins, new GIS data products and data science and insights services from the vast array of spatial datasets.

    This role will also allow you to take the initiative on the development of data science related projects and analytics with underlying spatial data to develop our new urban analytics service offer.

    You will also develop web mapping solutions and embedding geospatial datasets into gaming platforms/engines to demonstrate the capabilities of GIS solutions to clients using both open-source and proprietary software packages. You will also assist in broadening Buro Happold’s data and information modelling capabilities through regular consultations with BIM and Computational Engineering disciplines.

    About you

    What degree would I have studied?

    • Currently studying or have recently completed a relevant technical degree in GIS, Computer Science, a related Data Science course or a degree in 3D Web Development/Game Development.

    Desirable skills

    • Knowledge of basic GIS and Digital Twins concepts and ability to apply them.
    • Ability to tackle complex problems and develop solutions.
    • Proficiency in data science related languages such as Python, R, Matplotlib and MATLAB or appetite to learn.
    • Knowledge in developing and using modern data visualisation technology dashboards such as D3.js, CesiumJS 3D, Deck.gl or equivalent platforms for geospatial data visualisation and analytics.
    • Knowledge in the development, setting up and configuration of spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MS SQL Spatial.
    • Knowledge in spatial data processing and spatial data management processes with strong emphasis in developing SQL scripts.
    • Experienced in web development using programming languages and technologies such as JavaScript, node.js, HTML5, CSS, QT etc.
    • Familiarity with semantic 3D modelling capabilities and methodologies using 3D datasets such as LIDAR, Point Clouds, and 3D models and objects etc.
    • Familiarity with Gaming engines and platforms such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender etc and using languages such as C++, C#.
    • Knowledge/experience in 3D global spatial data and information modelling and management especially 3D cities, digital twins, VR and AR solutions development.
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Microsoft project.
    • Experience in the use of graphic design software packages such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
    • Knowledge of programming principles and version control systems such as Git and DevOps.
    • Experience with Agile methodologies.
    • Good technical communication skills (meaning able to simplify technical concepts and outcomes and be comfortable at communicating such concepts and outcomes verbally and in writing to different audiences and stakeholders).

    How long does the process take?
