As a Marketing Placement student, you will be carrying out a variety of tasks to help plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate customer marketing activity. Supporting the Product and Channel Marketing teams, you will help to achieve the company marketing and sales objectives. What we ask
You will be a fully-fledged member of the team, with projects and responsibilities to manage yourself.
You will be assigned specific tasks as well as defined projects, which will be based upon business needs and the strategic activity to support longer term goals. You will use your analytical skills to monitor performance and take appropriate action to resolve or escalate issues as appropriate.
Working towards your own objectives, you will solicit feedback, design and execute project plans, identify measures of success and generate ideas for improvement. Along with a commercial mind set, your innovative thinking will allow you to demonstrate your passion in developing robust marketing concepts.
Occasionally, you will represent Canon at events and exhibitions where you need to have confidence in supporting the Canon brand. You will provide support to our account managers and retailers by meeting and handling queries over phone, by email and face to face. You will also have ownership of a set project, key product area or an important retail account within the team, and work with the Sales team and Product and Channel team to support this.
You will also be part of a marketing project planning team and will have the opportunity to learn about best practice and to share your ideas in a compelling way. Working in collaboration with Product, Sales and PR & Communications teams, you will provide additional support to the wider team on marketing activities as required.
Examples of areas/channels you will experience: account-based marketing activity, in-store and online campaigns, liaising with design and print agencies, product launches, events and exhibitions, incentive schemes, digital services, eCRM, and more…!
You will need
You will need be analytical with good attention to detail. You will have excellent organisational skills and your project planning skills with the ability to provide to track projects and provide updates when asked. You will be able to work under pressure and will have the energy to manage a busy workload.
Your communication skills, written and verbal will be outstanding, as will your interpersonal skills, to influence and negotiate internally and externally to the organisation.
Confident by nature and able to use your own initiative, you will be able to respond to a fast-paced environment.
You will have a good level of knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Most importantly, you must have the desire to learn.
A predicted 2:1 level degree or equivalent in a business or marketing related degree is preferred, but you must have a minimum of B grade in GCSE Maths and English.
