First established in 2017, the Heavy Industry team at Canopius provides All Risk Property Damage and resultant Business Interruption Insurance for Mining, Metal and Chemical customers globally and is considered a leader within the London market.
Providing an administrative resource to a specialist underwriting team, this role offers the chance to play an active role in the lifecycle of a risk – from submission and pricing to contract binding. The team works in a fast-paced and collaborative environment and a successful candidate will have the opportunity for direct exposure with both internal and external stakeholders. With this they will be able to quickly develop their skills and progress with greater responsibility within the team.

Responsibilities will include
- Working alongside underwriters to deliver a first-class service to brokers and internal stakeholders via efficient and timely processing of submissions and other administration related to renewal and new accounts.
- Monitoring outstanding indications and pipeline business and ensuring all bound policy information is correctly captured in the systems including Subscribe.
- Preparing information and liaising with internal Natural Catastrophe modelling teams.
- Act as the point of contact and liaison for query resolution between our outsourced support company and internal credit control function. Ensuring all queries are answered efficiently and on time.
- Helping with the analysis of risks both new and within our existing portfolio
- Entering of information to support pricing and rating model completion.
- Assisting the Peer Review process, documenting outcomes and saving to internal systems.
- Quality assurance & pre-bind quality assurance (PBQA) of market reform contracts
- Conducting sanctions clearance on applicable risks via Canopius Compliance.
- Weekly/ monthly/ annual reporting including preparing data for weekly and divisional meeting, reinsurance and any adhoc management reporting requests including Lloyd’s & Realistic Disaster Scenarios.
- Monitor the unit’s income position against business plan.
- Assisting in collection of data and creation of Reinsurance Renewal Packs
Skills and experience
- Accuracy, and numeracy
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word / Excel / Powerpoint).
- Ability to work with Power BI (desirable but not essential).
- Able to communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders through written and verbal communication.
- Highly motivated, team player capable of working on own initiative.
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to accurately deal with high volume of data entry/processing.
- Willingness and desire to learn and develop.
