    Canopius has an established team of Financial Lines underwriters and claims adjusters working collaboratively to provide exceptional customer service and innovative solutions to our clients.

    The team provides insurance for a wide range of Financial Lines policy types, including Management Liability risks (Directors & Officers liability, Employment Practices Liability, Crime & Fidelity etc.) and Professional Indemnity risks (Solicitors, Accountants, Construction etc.). Our underwriters have extensive experience and are market leading experts in their specialist areas. The wide variety provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to work closely with numerous internal and external stakeholders on claims across different risks, jurisdictions and industries.

    About the role

    Canopius is seeking a motivated and detail oriented individual to join our Financial Lines Claims team as a Trainee Claims Adjuster. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry level person or new graduate looking to start, or advance, their career in the London insurance market. The successful candidate will learn to proactively adjust claims from initial notification through to settlement.

    The successful candidate will need to act in accordance with, drive, and further the aims set out in the Canopius claims vision: “to continually push the boundaries of customer excellence through an empowered, collaborative and innovative approach to claims; to be the envy of the market”.

    Responsibilities will include

    • Develop a thorough understanding of claims within the Financial Lines portfolio.
    • Ensure that sufficient financial provisions are held for all claims within the portfolio and reported appropriately, in accordance with the Canopius reserving philosophy.
    • Proactively adjust claims within your authority level and in accordance with the Canopius claims manual, ensuring and delivering the highest service to all our customers.
    • Nurture and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including underwriters, actuaries and brokers for the relevant classes of business.
    • Instruct and proactively work with panel lawyers, adjusters, and experts to ensure the best outcomes while controlling costs and reducing claims leakage.

    Skills and experience

    • Ability to prioritise and proactively meet deadlines.
    • Ability to manage complex issues and problems, and escalate appropriately. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • A passion for learning and a keen interest in current events.
    • Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the Lloyd’s insurance market and an understanding of the claims function is preferred, but this is not essential.
    • Acting with honesty, integrity and fairness at all times.
    • Willingness towards professional development.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
