The role is designed to directly support the student experience within the work-based learning environment and to increase the impact and reach of SPA service provision with Cardiff Met. Sport and the wider University community.
The post holder will have strong performance analysis process skills (data capture, workflow design and implementation, and coach-athlete feedback mechanisms) and a balanced awareness and understanding of a range of relevant software and hardware.
This role will require a creative, enthusiastic, flexible approach to assisting analysts and teams of analysts, to: build relationships with coaches and players; manage the pressure of working to deadlines; and, dealing with technical issues as they arise.
As the Sport performance analysis intern you will be required to support analysts (and teams of analysts) in their placement and work-based learning delivery to the Cardiff Met Performance Sport stakeholders.
You will also be required to support the Lab Director in the delivery of practical sessions that underpin work-based delivery. The role will be 30 hours a week consisting of some work in evenings and weekends, where relevant. There is a strong team ethic within this environment.
Main duties
- Supporting students to plan SPA service provision, design work flows, capture data,
- film and analyse sport performance;
- Assist students in their SPA feedback to coaches and athletes;
- Assist staff with basic software demonstrations. Also assist with the
- demonstration of practical techniques, processes and operation of equipment;
- Prepare software for analysis sessions and cameras for filming sessions;
- Work with Lab Manager, Placement Lead, Cardiff Met Sport, and Directors of Sport to maximise SPA service provision on campus;
- Ensure the health and safety of self and others during all activities particularly during solo filming and/or analysis.
