    The facility can boast a wealth of hugely experienced designers, engineers and technicians used to providing solutions for commercial, professional and military customers. From the design, testing and building, each engine is proven before leaving the premises to ensure the best performance for the end-user. The products range up to 500 bhp for propulsion engines and 200 ekW for our gensets.

    What experiences can we offer you

    We offer a 2-year graduate training scheme, giving you the opportunity to work in several focused areas on the integration, development, application, and validation of electrical and electronic control systems for marine diesel engines, generator sets & vessel integration.

    You will be an active team member working on real development projects, alongside experienced engineers, gaining exposure to system specifications, control system modelling and analysis, component selection and validation, system level development and validation, product health analysis or quality issue resolution. You will also collaborate with team members worldwide as part of the global team.

    Working with experienced technical team leaders and mentors you will receive all the coaching, guidance and support for your work, personal development, and professional accreditation. At the end of the scheme, we will find the best fit for you in one of our engineering teams with consideration given to your career ambitions and to our business needs.

    We hold a Meet and Greet day for all new UK Graduate students to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the UK before you start your placement.

    What happens after the graduate scheme

    After successful completion, you will progress into a key role where you will directly contribute to the operational and project activity that is at the heart of our business. We will provide you with the training and support you need to be successful at Caterpillar.

    Who are we looking for

    You will need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and capable of learning quickly in a fast-paced development environment. We are looking for someone with an interest in applying electrical/electronic knowledge to generate and deliver Engineered solutions to our customers.

    This role is primarily focused on electronics and electrical systems, with key focus areas including:

    • Design of generator control systems and associated equipment.
    • Wiring schematics & harness design.
    • Technical calculations.
    • Component/sub-systems supplier review.
    • Validation/Troubleshooting

    You will also require excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact regularly with customers and colleagues within the Caterpillar global team. Travel to customer sites within Europe may be required.

    It is essential that applicants should have achieved or be on track to achieve a minimum of a 2:2 in one of the following disciplines: Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, Integrated Mechanical & Electrical

    Recruitment Process

    Here is a brief overview of what you can expect when applying to our Early Career roles…

    Online Application: The first stage of the process is to complete the online application and attach your CV, this must be done before the closing date of the role that you're applying for. Once we reach the close date, we will begin reviewing all our applications, this may take a little while and we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know if you have been successful in moving forward to the next stage.

    Stage one – Video Interview: If selected, you will be invited to attend a pre-recorded user-friendly video interview which you have one week to complete and submit. You are able to record your answers several times to allow you plenty of practice if required. Please ensure that you check your spam emails for this invite. At this stage if you are successful, you will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre either onsite or virtually between January and April 2024.

    Stage two – Assessment Centre: The Assessment Centre day will look at a range of behaviours such as teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. We aim to make these days fun, inclusive and as relaxed as possible.

    Stage three – Offer: After the Assessment Centre, the Caterpillar team will review the feedback and extend offers to our preferred candidates, we aim to do this as quickly as possible.
