What do we do

Our Marketing teams focus their attention on understanding current and future market and customer needs, analysing opportunities, and defining the brand and product positioning. Our Sales teams maintain relationships with existing customers whilst winning new business from our competitors. It sounds easy, and we have an enviable record of success on both counts, but the real challenge is to keep us where we are – at the forefront.

What experiences can we offer you

You will undertake a four, six-month placements in the differing functional areas of Sales (including future technologies i.e. batteries, alternative fuels), Marketing, Aftermarket Parts (including digital) and the Strategy Team. Within each placement we look to develop solid personal learning and development experiences, combined with formal developmental training. At the same time we look to the graduate to deliver solid business contributions, which may be as part of a 6 Sigma team, Project team, shaping and delivering a sales conference or developing a sales proposition in support of a customer visit. Given the global focus of our business placements can include overseas travel on occasion.

  • Throughout this process the graduate will have the opportunity to draw on support and guidance as necessary from our Graduate Manager and an assigned mentor.

We hold a Meet and Greet day for all new UK Graduate students to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the UK before you start your placement.

What happens after the graduate scheme

After successful completion of the rotational programme, you will progress into a key role where you will directly contribute to the operational and project activity that is at the heart of our business. We will provide you with the training and support you need to be successful at Caterpillar.

Who are we looking for

Real ambassadorial roles such as these demand outgoing, assured and influential personalities. We are looking for individuals from either of two different backgrounds: Applicants from a business or engineering background who can develop their experience in areas such as marketing planning, engines or parts sales, promotions, pricing or market intelligence. There maybe opportunities within such areas as future technologies, machine applications, or more technical teams if applicable.

It is essential that applicants should have achieved or be on track to achieve a minimum of a 2:2. The technical route requires an Engineering-related degree. Others need a Business Studies, Marketing or similar qualification. We will consider degrees outside these if individuals show some technical competence and a willingness to learn.

Recruitment Process

Here is a brief overview of what you can expect when applying to our Early Career roles.

Online Application: The first stage of the process is to complete the online application and attach your CV, this must be done before the closing date of the role that you're applying for. Once we reach the close date, we will begin reviewing all our applications, this may take a little while and we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know if you have been successful in moving forward to the next stage.

Stage one – Video Interview: If selected, you will be invited to attend a pre-recorded user-friendly video interview which you have one week to complete and submit. You are able to record your answers several times to allow you plenty of practice if required. Please ensure that you check your spam emails for this invite. At this stage if you are successful, you will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre either onsite or virtually between January and April 2024.

Stage two – Assessment Centre: The Assessment Centre day will look at a range of behaviours such as teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. We aim to make these days fun, inclusive and as relaxed as possible.

Stage three – Offer: After the Assessment Centre, the Caterpillar team will review the feedback and extend offers to our preferred candidates, we aim to do this as quickly as possible.
