    We also operate a conditional offer process; our highest performing placement students are fast tracked to our graduate development scheme. This includes a financial incentive and the potential of a summer work placement.

    Offers will be made based on the condition that a graduate role is available at the time of your graduation and that you achieve a min of 2:2.

    The role

    During this 12-month placement, you will have the opportunity to experience different aspects of operations within the production of the Articulated Dump Truck, giving you an excellent insight into the requirements of working as part of a successful team.

    You will work closely with the operations leadership team through supporting them in achieving daily build volumes of the Articulated Dump Truck. You will work to embed operational excellence and lean manufacturing principles into working practices throughout the assembly line within the factory, as well as working on continuous improvement initiatives throughout production processes.

    You will work with established Production Managers on providing support to Team Leaders and production workers, whilst ensuring a safe and clean production environment. You will also get the opportunity to gain experience in other areas of the production space such as inspection and fabrication.

    To gain maximum exposure over the 12-month placement duration, you will be communicating and interacting with all disciplines of the business, including Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Product Engineering, giving you a true understanding of our business.

    We hold a Meet and Greet day for all new UK placement students to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the UK before you start your placement.

    • Applicants will be on target to achieve a minimum of 2:2 honours degree level in a relevant discipline.
    • Applicants must be studying a degree in one of the following disciplines: Manufacturing Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Business Management, Operations Management

    Recruitment Process

    Here is a brief overview of what you can expect when applying to our Early Career roles…

    • Online Application: The first stage of the process is to complete the online application and attach your CV, this must be done before the closing date of the role that you're applying for. Once we reach the close date, we will begin reviewing all our applications, this may take a little while and we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know if you have been successful in moving forward to the next stage.
    • Stage one – Video Interview: If selected, you will be invited to attend a pre-recorded user-friendly video interview which you have one week to complete and submit. You are able to record your answers several times to allow you plenty of practice if required. Please ensure that you check your spam emails for this invite. At this stage if you are successful, you will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre either onsite or virtually between January and April 2024.
    • Stage two – Assessment Centre: The Assessment Centre day will look at a range of behaviours such as teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. We aim to make these days fun, inclusive and as relaxed as possible.
    • Stage three – Offer: After the Assessment Centre, the Caterpillar team will review the feedback and extend offers to our preferred candidates, we aim to do this as quickly as possible.
