Who is Caterpillar
We are the world's leading manufacturer of Construction and Mining Equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. Operating from 50 countries around the globe, the Caterpillar brand has developed into a symbol of strength, respect, and integrity. The organisation has a clear vision to be the global leader in providing customer value in the markets in which it operates. Our core values (Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Commitment and Sustainability) are key to our success.
What do we do
At Desford we provide end-to-end transportation solutions designed, deployed, and executed to support Caterpillars European footprint. Our transportation team is responsible for moving all the freight from suppliers, manufacturing sites, distribution centres and component facilities to assembly plants, dealers and customers. This includes machines, components and all our aftermarket service parts.
What experiences can we offer you
During this two-year training program as a Transportation Analyst, you will work across our UK and Europe Transportation network in support of over 25 production locations and distribution centres, for shipments from over 1,000 suppliers.
You will manage the Transportation Service Providers (carriers), contracted by Caterpillar, who execute the shipments of Caterpillar production material to factories and machines and engines to Caterpillar’s customers, both domestically and overseas. You identify, investigate, and resolve problems with shipments to ensure accurate and on-time delivery to facilities, and develop initiatives to improve service and lower cost. You will get to work and collaborate with people in Caterpillar facilities globally.
We hold a Meet and Greet day for all new UK Graduate students to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the UK before you start your placement.
What happens after the graduate scheme
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will have gained strong foundational experience in the transportation element of Caterpillars supply chain. There will be routes to progress your career through either the transport team or the wider supply chain team.
