    About the role

    We are seeking a GC Analyst to join our dynamic team within our Dioxins, Furans and PCBs laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine analysis on a variety of customer samples (Environmental/Food), working to deadlines in accordance with the company Quality Management System and UKAS guidelines.

    Key responsibilities

    • Perform routine analysis on customer samples, working to deadlines and in accordance with UKAS guidelines using analytical instrumentation (HiRez GCMS and GCMS).
    • Work to UKAS standards (ISO 17025 and MCERTS) to ensure that the agreed quality standards and requirements e.g. calibrations, AQC charts etc. are continually adhered to.
    • Perform and monitor QC checks. Ensure that all work carried out complies with documented procedures and samples are handled correctly. Accurately record and analyse data, identify possible deviations.
    • Perform routine instrument calibration and maintenance. Troubleshooting, identifying root cause and implement viable corrective actions with support from Team Leader.
    • Effectively communicate with co-workers and laboratory management team.
    • Prepare standards and solutions. To aid in the preparation of samples when needed. Ordering and monitoring of lab consumables.
    • Maintain a high standard of personal knowledge and skills relevant to role through self-directed learning.
    • Ad hoc duties as required. Keep the laboratory clean and tidy at all times.
    • In conjunction with supervisor prioritise and manage workload.
    • Be willing to do overtime when requested.
    • Qualifications:
    • Ideally a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent or experience within a similar role.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Experience in GC analysis and knowledge of ISO 17025 and MCERTS standards preferred but not essential.
    • Consideration will be given to candidates with no previous analytical experience and full training will be provided.
