Pathway Overview
Capital Allowances is a form of tax relief available on virtually all types of commercial property expenditure, including property acquisitions, new build and refurbishment schemes. Our team of Capital Allowances specialists are dual qualified in both property & tax, and they work with a full range of clients across all sectors. From initial design, through to the end of a development, or as part of the due diligence team, we are there to assist our clients in optimising their tax position – considering everything from tax efficient designs through to the structuring of contracts and wording in transaction documentation.
As a graduate you will be involved in a wide range of activities, including but not limited to, client meetings, researching entitlement and tax history on property transactions, formulating acquisition claims, applying tax treatment to to capital project expenditure as well as delivering claim reports to a high standard to ensure our clients’ expectations are met. This 2 year programme is for graduates wanting to specialise in Capital Allowances. We will provide structured training and support for you to gain the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) via the Taxation Allowances pathway through the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Person Specification/Requirements

- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Cognate students will need a RICS accredited degree or a RICS accredited masters conversion course in Quantity Surveying or Real Estate (achieved or on track for a 2:1 minimum)
- OR Non-Cognate students, studying a Maths, Economics, Finance, Tax or Business Studies degree are also welcome to apply (achieved or on track for a 2:1 minimum)
- Good MS Office skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- The successful candidate must, by the commencement of employment, have the right to work in the UK.
The Application process
You will initially complete an application form along with your CV. If this meets our requirements, then you will be asked to complete a job-focussed test. From there we will invite successful candidates to an assessment centre in December/January that will consist of a group activity and individual interview.
