Our Environmental Analyst Year in Industry Programme aims to compliment your studies and accelerate your development, hopefully setting you up for a limitless career whilst being part of our team!

    Here’s what you will be doing

    You will be helping Centrica develop, implement, and monitor the progress of our climate change strategy for both our own operations and for our customers – gaining first-hand insight into how the energy industry is changing and the different energy decarbonisation pathways for the future.

    You’ll help manage the environmental performance across everything we do. From power stations to customer homes, you will be immersed in a range of projects that contribute to managing Centrica’s environmental impact and our journey towards Net Zero.

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential to the role; for example, your tasks may include:

    • Modelling future carbon emission trends and improving scope 1, 2 & 3 reporting
    • Assisting on the assurance of our progress against environmental targets using our unique reporting platform
    • Benchmarking and research on best practice
    • Supporting disclosure for TCFD, CDP and mandatory environmental reporting projects

    We want you to experience as much as possible and be able to soak up and learn about the wonderful world of environmental analysis life at Centrica. Throughout the programme, you will be provided with an unparalleled level of support with access to buddies, mentors, and experienced line managers, as well as having a ready-made network of graduates across the business to tap into. Based on your performance you will also have the chance to earn a place on our 2026 Graduate programme following your final year of university.

    We have a few must-haves

    We want to hear from students who are passionate about tackling environmental issues and climate change, with a strong interest in sustainability and the energy sector. You will also be:

    • Expecting a 2:1 degree (STEM subject preferred) (2:2 if combined with a Master’s)
    • Have the right to work in the UK
    • In the office a minimum of 2 days a week
    • In tertiary education, which will continue after the placement year
    • Someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Confident in IT applications, in particular Excel
    • Able to communicate effectively with operational teams and other functions
    • Innovative and agile, to overcome hurdles and contribute towards a responsible business
    • A strong team player, alongside the ability to work independently
    • Available to start the programme from 18th June 2024 – 31st July 2025
