    Performing as an Associate Trading Technology Developer at Centrica Energy Marketing & Trading, you’ve got a unique opportunity to impact one of the most exciting and rapidly evolving industries in the world – renewable energy.

    The role

    The opportunity to get involved in projects that may help to share your future career path. Gain hands-on experience of the full software delivery lifecycle, from the adoption of new technologies to the retirement of the old; together with a great understanding of modern finance and energy markets.

    • You will experience working on initiatives across the full trading lifecycle (Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office).
    • You will receive training on a variety of programs including Azure/AWS methodologies, C#, Python, Java, SQL and / or Power BI and be given opportunities to further develop your technical skills in working with highly experienced colleagues.
    • You will receive ongoing guidance from your manager, have a dedicated mentor to try and help you reach your goals and ambitions.

    What you need

    • To have graduated with a MSc or BSc in a Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics or similar subject
    • You need to either have already graduated, or be expecting a minimum 2:1 (or equivalent)
    • Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
    • Some experience of having used C#, C++, Python or Java
    • Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, databases and Cloud technologies (Azure/AWS)
    • An interest in energy / commodity trading and strong interest in computer science
    • Ability to effectively communicate project status, issues/risks, blockers and key Milestones
    • Good teamwork spirit and capability to work independently when needed
    • Adaptability and a growth mindset
    • Knowledge of finance / risk would be an added advantage.
