Charles Taylor Adjusting focuses on commercial losses and claims across all major lines and geographies, many of which are large and complex in nature. We handle onshore and offshore claims, across 4 main divisions; Property, Casualty, Technical & Special Risks, Marine, Aviation, Natural Resources and believe we are the only global loss adjuster to have achieved a true market leadership position across all these disciplines.

The role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Business Partner – Marine and Aviation to join the Claims Solutions International Finance team. The role will focus on supporting the successful running of Marine and Aviation Business Units while providing insight into the financial performance of the business and highlighting ways of improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the implementation and effective execution of the month-end P&L close process and preparing the month-end pack. This will involve:
    • Preparing month end P&L analytical review for the Marine and Aviation cost centres, e.g., identifying movements against budget, and prior month actuals.
    • Working closely with the Financial Accounting (R2R) team to ensure timely delivery of actuals in line with month-end close deadlines.
    • Liaising with the Marine & Aviation Ops and Change Director to provide commentary on material cost and revenue variances against budget.
    • Preparing a month-end pack highlighting the performance against various KPIs.
  • Ensuring any corrections or exceptional postings, including those identified by Ops and Change Directors, are input to relevant Finance systems in line with the month-end close timelines.
  • Regular communication with the Marine and Aviation SMT, reporting on monthly financials and assisting with ad hoc requests.
  • Preparation of weekly cashflow forecasts and budgets.
  • Review of cashflow forecasts to determine relevant cash repatriations to Group.
  • Driving and owning the process for producing the annual budget and 3 year/strategic plan for Marine & Aviation. This will involve:
    • Working closely with the business (Ops and Change Directors) and senior Finance leaders (CFO, Head of FP&A) to obtain required information and ensure the annual budget and 3 year/strategic plan is completed in a timely manner.
    • Uploading budget and plan information into Finance systems.
  • Ensuring data accuracy in TM1 and resolving any issues with the system accountants.
  • Provide ad hoc support to Senior FBP, Finance Director and across the team as required.
  • Identifying and supporting the implementation of opportunities to simplify and streamline processes.

Required skills

  • ACCA or ACA Qualified within The Big 4/professional services environment looking for their first role in industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong communicator with good presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with the business, Finance and other Stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise tasks and work under time pressure.
  • Team player with a can-do attitude who is also comfortable working independently without supervision.
  • Keen to learn and continually develop skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proactive and keen to find more efficient ways of working.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
