This is a desktop claims handling role. We are seeking an individual to undertake claims handling tasks on Latent Defects claims which are managed on a cradle to grave basis by our LDI Surveyors and Loss Adjusters. Training on Latent Defects Insurance will be provided.

Key responsibilities

  • To assist in the technical handling of cradle to grave Latent Defects claims.
  • To assist the Surveyor/Loss Adjuster who owns the claim, by undertaking technical claims handling tasks such as issuing and explaining coverage decisions, assisting policyholders with the agreed route of settlement such as arranging remedial works to covered Defects, organising payments from client fund accounts and producing simple Adjuster reports.
  • Maintaining the claims system with full details of the claim to meet individual client requirements in order that all client MI and Bordereaux are accurate.
  • To instruct external experts / suppliers as appropriate, such specialists to identify Cause, Solicitors for opinions on coverage subrogated recoveries, and contractors.
  • To manage and maintain the diary system on every claim.
  • This is a fee earning role with associated fee earning targets.
  • To fully participate in the continuous improvement of the Latent Defects team and also provide assistance to other parts of the Charles Taylor as necessary.
  • To assist in and develop the effective marketing of Charles Taylor adjusting including:-
  • Developing working relationships with existing Clients;
  • Helping to identify and plan approaches to new Clients;
  • Assist others with their marketing functions;
  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of presentations to Clients
  • Hosting and attending social events;

Required skills

  • An experienced Surveyor or Engineer who, ideally, has some experience within the insurance claims arena. Alternatively, a Loss Adjuster / Claims Professional with relevant experience.
  • Professional Insurance / Loss Adjusting / Surveying / Engineering qualifications are desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter professionals with an ability to work independently.
