    The role

    Our Individual Membership team has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant who has commercial awareness and is passionate about international affairs. This role is central to the efficiencies of our daily membership processes, including their design and refinement, and ensuring the most effective use of CRM. You will also use your initiative to help build membership income by positively contributing to growing our communications and marketing activities and crafting new benefits for Chatham House Members, with whom you will engage daily.

    Principal responsibilities

    Delivery

    • Deliver processes covering individuals’ membership of Chatham House, ensuring a high quality service from application to resignation.
    • Enter, maintain and update individual members’ records in the CRM, taking ownership for their accuracy.
    • Support with promotional content and construction via social media and newsletters.
    • Process membership payments, refunds and direct debits.
    • Keep the Individual Membership Process manual up to date; introducing new processes or updating existing ones according to need.
    • Help ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards for members' data use.

    People

    • Act as first point of contact for individual, prospective members and members events attendees answering queries and to build positive relationships to improve retention and acquisition rates.
    • Regularly assist with and attend events to meet members and develop relationships.

    Strategy

    • Alongside the team, you will work on a variety of projects, helping deliver the implementation of new marketing strategies targeted at growing member numbers to increase income.
    • Play an active role in departmental meetings focusing on long term growth strategies for membership and work with the team to think of new efficiencies within our processes.

    Personal specification

    Essential skills and experience

    • Dedicated, self-motivated and passionate about business development, with experience working in administration, or coordination environment.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and with individuals at all levels of seniority displaying tact, sensitivity and diplomacy at all times and discretion in handling confidential information.
    • Happy to pursue a wide variety of tasks with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills for providing timely customer service and meeting other tight deadlines.
    • Deeply committed to delivering good customer service with the ability to effectively manage relationships at all levels of the business.
    • Computer-literate with experience of databases and all Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Excel and MS Word.

    Desirable skills and experience

    • Creative skills with the ability to generate innovative ideas.
