Chelmsford City Racecourse, the UK’s newest racecourse, is looking for a Marketing Executive to help build the most innovative brand in British racing.

Working closely with the Head of Marketing & Creative, you will be responsible for day-to-day marketing operations helping to plan and execute marketing campaigns through content marketing, brand marketing, advertising, print marketing and on-site marketing as well as attending events.

Working with the wider marketing team you will help to grow racecourse audiences across owned channels, increase Raceday and event attendance, and grow awareness & enquiries for our full suite of products (weddings, memberships, private events etc).

Key accountabilities

Strategy

  • Support the development of Marketing plans to grow racecourse audiences and attendances.
  • Support the development of content strategy for all owned channels.
  • Bring innovative ideas and creative concepts to the ideation and development of go-to-market campaigns.
  • Responsible for the delivery of fully integrated marketing campaigns to meet key audience KPIs and product objectives.
  • Be an ambassador and brand guardian for the racecourse.

Content creation

  • Leading the production of content for marketing campaigns and digital channels.
  • Work closely with the Creative Lead on asset design.
  • Work closely with third-party agencies and freelancers to produce industry leading video, photography, and content.
  • Create news stories, blogs, and press releases.
  • Creation and delivery of effective email campaigns and newsletters.
  • Support design of promotional items including brochures, leaflets, and event planners etc.

Social media

  • Own the social strategy with aim to grow social following across all relevant platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
  • Create short-form video content and distribute on social channels.
  • Interact with and engage our online community, starting social conversations.
  • Use social as a form of brand listening, competitor analysis and research, reporting findings and recommendations.
  • Identify relevant influencers we can collaborate with on campaigns to raise brand awareness.
  • Report on social performance, sharing insights and ideas on how we can drive better engagement and reach.

Raceday & event marketing

  • Be on-site and the main point of contact for Raceday marketing including managing racecards.
  • Create content for owned channels during Raceday’s and events.
  • Create content briefs and manage photography, videography, and press partners/visitors.
  • Ensure all on-site marketing is up to date.

Press & PR

  • Work with partners, listing services and tourist boards to ensure that the racecourse is promoted effectively.
  • Build a network of local and regional press contacts.
  • and distribute in a timely manner.
  • Manage the racecourse’s print marketing including magazines, newspapers, flyers and mail outs etc.

Person specification

Qualifications/experience

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience within a general or social media marketing position.
  • Experience managing and creating content for social media channels.
  • Copywriting for a brand or product.

  • Excellent copywriting skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Highly organized multi-tasker, with good attention to detail, and with the ability to maintain high levels of accuracy.

Essentials

  • Full UK driving licence.
