You're the brains behind our work.

You're ready to bring your knowledge from the classroom to the boardroom and Citi wants to help you get there. Whether it's honing your skills or building your network, we know that success can't come without growth. Our programs equip you with the knowledge and training you need to play a valuable role on your team, and establish a long-term career here. At Citi, we value internal mobility, and career growth is not a question of if, but when.

Citi's Institutional Credit Management division (ICM) is looking for Summer Analysts to join the Leveraged Portfolio Group in EMEA. LPG plays an integral role in Citi’s credit approval and origination process for Leveraged Finance transactions and spearheads the ongoing credit monitoring process for Citi’s Leveraged Finance Portfolio of client relationships, both Sponsor-backed and Corporates.

Through in-depth due diligence, fundamental analysis, and sound execution, LPG manages the end-to-end leveraged lending transaction process in close partnership with Leveraged Finance and Corporate & Investment Banking (in particular Financial Sponsors Group). Furthermore, LPG play a critical role in the ongoing evaluation of the clients’ financial health and credit profile, allowing Citi to effectively manage its exposure against clients with highly leveraged credit structure.

As a Summer Analyst, you will develop first-hand experience in both transaction execution and credit monitoring process, working closely with LPG members at all levels (including Senior Bankers) who will provide you the opportunity to develop a solid foundation of credit skills. Our internship is designed to help you increase your knowledge, so whatever your degree is in we will give you the training and support you need to excel.

Your time here will look something like this

    • Actively participate in credit approval process for leveraged Sponsor-backed and Corporate deals, working alongside experienced members of the LPG team
    • Complete fundamental risk and credit analysis as part of Credit Approval Memos
    • Support the ongoing credit monitoring process by providing key inputs and analysis on the clients’ latest financial performance
    • Complete an Annual Review for a complex leveraged credit and present to Seniors in both Business and Risk

We provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed.

We're committed to teaching you the ropes. The 10-week summer analyst program starts in June and begins with a one-week in-depth training program. While you're in the Summer Analyst role, you're eligible to participate in Citi's mentorship program, which will provide further training and guidance during and after the Program. Successful summer analysts will be considered for a full time position to join LPG after graduation, where you will continue to enhance your technical skills, acquire hands on experience and build a strong network throughout Citi.

We want to hear from you if

    • You are in your penultimate/final year of university
    • Expected to achieve or have achieved a 2:1 (or equivalent) at undergraduate level in any degree discipline.
    • You have an interest in business
    • You are fluent in a 2nd language (this is desirable but not essential)

Who we think will be a great fit

In light of heighted activity level in the Leveraged Finance space, as well as continued focus on sound credit decisions from Citi perspective, LPG plays an instrumental role in Citi’s credit origination and approval process for Leveraged Finance transactions. As such, a genuine interest in credit analysis and transaction execution is critical to a fruitful experience in LPG. We value diversity and so do you.

We’ll also be looking for the following

    • Strong writing, analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentation skills
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Ability to break down large amounts of data into concise, easy to understand formats
    • Ability to quickly and accurately find information upon a Banker / Manager’s request
    • Ability to take on demanding responsibilities and work independently, effectively manage deadlines and juggle multiple tasks at once

We will recruit on a rolling basis and therefore encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Successful candidates will be offered a competitive salary.
