What could I be involved in as a Government Economics Service Fast Streamer? It’s about more than analysing data. On this scheme you’ll help influence policy and shape the government’s responses to today’s essential economic issues. With postings across a range of areas, government departments or agencies, and, potentially, sometimes overseas, your work will take in the full range of economic approaches, methods and applications. You’ll experience the application of economics in the real world. And you’ll apply your knowledge to help improve national socio-economic outcomes, as well as delivery in areas like public health and criminal justice.
Training includes: As well as core leadership and other practical skills training, you’ll develop your professional economics knowledge through on-the-job learning. You’ll also have access to economist specific technical training, seminars and other courses, which can be tailored to your specific learning needs.
To apply, you’ll need:
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• A 2:1 or higher degree or degree apprenticeship (or be expecting to achieve this), or a post-graduate degree in an economic subject.
• For mixed degrees, at least 50% should be in economics. Modules must have covered both micro and macroeconomics to qualify
