About the role
The newly formed Analytics & Data Governance Team will play a key role in the evolution of the business, placing data at the centre of the commercial and operational execution of a complex and exciting organisation. As part of these teams, the Analyst will champion and train colleagues in how to get the most from data, how to improve and maintain the quality, how to convert it to insight and how to drive better automation and efficiencies through its delivery into the hands of key decision makers.
You will be working as part of the Analytics & Data Governance team, the individual will work to develop and embed first-class insight-lead decision making and evolve data standards across the organisation through the development of formal reporting, strategic analytics, data cleansing and a programme of data citizenship delivered to all regions and functions. This will involve close collaboration with stakeholders across the organisation on a range of projects from tactical to strategic, leveraging and developing a broad spectrum of skills – from the technical, through quantitative to communication and change management.
Key responsibilities
- Acts as the expert on internal data resources for the wider business.
- Serves as the key resource for interpreting data, quality and information; communicates results to team members.
- Operates as the primary contact between departments and IT to facilitate the delivery of business intelligence & data remediation solutions.
- Works closely with IT project managers and operations to coordinate cross-functional project activities and ensures deliverables are accurate and meet requirements.
- Utilizes business intelligence tools across all departments and functional areas providing detailed reporting and analysis.
- Assesses analytics, data quality and reporting needs; provides recommendations for enhanced solutions and specifications for intelligence and analytics tools.
- Supports remedial cleansing and enrichment activity with the aim to rectify issues at the root cause or improve data entry at source.
- Supports the delivery of reporting and analytic solutions to internal and external customers.
- Ensures data quality standards are defined and embedded through collaborating with Subject Matter Experts.
- Ensures reporting needs across process areas are prioritized to support deployment strategies and business needs.
- Supports on development of protocols to extract data in a standardized process from a variety of data sources.
- Development and definition of data management standards and processes to effectively manage data through the reporting life cycle.
- Ensures the impact of data issues are documented and communicated to the affected business owners.
- Drives the adoption of the Data Quality framework across the data lifecycle, in line with business process and operations.
- Supports on data mining of customer and sales information for all market segments.
- Drives development of prototypes and models for database, data integrations and data transformation needs.
- Maintains and develops strong working relationships with business owners to drive the adoption of good data quality practice to achieve accurate, timely and trustworthy data.
- Creation of speech and presentation materials for members of the management team.
- Keeps abreast of healthcare trends and competitor activity.
Requirements
- Requires a minimum of one year direct progressively responsible experience with expert analytics and reporting experience, ideally in a relevant sector
- Relevant training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, or computer science generally obtained through completion of a three/four year Bachelor’s Degree program
- Evidence of strong analytic mind set and intellectual curiosity is essential
- Ability to effectively participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams
- Ability to provide expert steer and knowledge into wider team settings, leading where required
- Planning, analytical and conceptual skills to evaluate business problems and identify and apply appropriate solutions
- Strong business acumen
- Strong skillset in relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server or Access) and data management essential
- Experience with cloud-based data warehousing/engineering architecture (e.g. Microsoft Azure) desirable
- Experience with object-oriented programming (e.g. VBA, Python) desirable
- Some experience with statistical or maths packages (e.g. R, Stata, SPSS) desirable
- Experience with Alteryx Designer desirable
- Experience with Power BI or similar visualization software desirable
- Strong skillset and experience with business intelligence tools, capabilities, and best practices essential
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Excel (expert) required
