An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and effective individual to join Winterflood Business Services (WBS) on a permanent contract as a Graduate Client Tester. The successful individual will support the implementation of new clients and work on a variety of ongoing projects supporting business services and the Business Project Managers, as well as being the business’s SME on User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The role sits within WBS Client Implementations and works very closely with Operations, Product, QA and Dealing. The role reports into WBS’ Senior Test Manager. The Client Implementations team is responsible for the successful onboarding of clients on the WBS Dealing and Custody platform across the full project lifecycle from requirements gathering, testing, release to production and closure.
The Graduate Client Tester is responsible for establishing test criteria based on business requirements or user stories, for communicating test conditions to internal and external stakeholders and maintaining direct relationships with other experts across the organisation. The successful candidate will primarily be delivering test phases for clients being onboarded onto WBS’ Dealing or Dealing and Custody platform as well as supporting UAT on Production defects and Product build items.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the production of test scenarios, end-to-end test scripts and other UAT documentation including System Testing, User Acceptance Testing, Regression testing (if applicable and with the QA Team), Business Process Proving & Model Office.
- Responsible for client facing test scripts and scenarios.
- Responsible for documenting processes where applicable and maintaining documentation for both internal and external use. Maintain client facing testing documentation such as User Guides.
- Provide demonstrations of the WBS Dealing and Custody platform to potential clients on the sales pipeline or existing clients who are possibly extending their offering
- Supporting the training of end users and at times, visiting clients and training staff on functionality
- Working closely with the business throughout UAT to ensure the successful outcome of testing
- Raising and managing any defects or bugs identified during test. Liaising with the appropriate developers to resolve defects in a timely manner
- Ensure the Implementation and Development processes are followed. Maintain the processes by ensuring actions during Testing phase are complete
- Execution of UAT against previously defined and signed-off business requirements or user stories.
- Collation and reporting of all test results, for external and internal audiences. Ensuring an accurate audit is kept of test findings and client sign off forms.
- Provision of information to relevant project managers to allow informed decisions to be made. For example, presenting defects at Sign Off meetings for risk acceptance.
- Highlighting key issues and problems relating to the product sign-off or client go live once the testing phase is complete.
- Analysis and interpretation of Business Requirements, and where necessary, elicitation of further information from Project Managers or Product Team.
- Provide estimates to the best of your ability on test effort required
- Establish good working relationships within WBS and across the business.
- Be part of a cross functional team and advise this team on testability of business requirements.
- Carry out analysis of business requirements as part of the review cycle/signoff process and give recommendation to QA Team. Occasionally work in tandem with QA in joint QA/UAT ventures.
- Work closely with Support Technicians/ Developers/ Release Manager to resolve and verify fixes; provide feedback on defects and improvements
Qualifications, skills and attributes
- UAT experience preferred but interest in testing is key
- Good knowledge of testing environments, phases and approaches
- Knowledge of Financial Services, specifically financial markets, financials products (e.g. ISA/JISA/GIA products, Instrument types and order types) the trading lifecycle and Operational Settlement
- Good conceptual knowledge and experience of defining test plans, test cases and execution
- Experience working in a client facing environment and an interest in delivering first class client service
- An understanding of SQL querying is desirable
- Understanding structured test methods and processes
- Good attention to detail, strong analysis and problem-solving skills are essential
- Being analytical and effective

- Planning, prioritising and estimating time against workload
- Preparing concise documentation
- Excellent communication skills, allowing an ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels within the company and with external clients/suppliers
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, JIRA, Confluence and related products for example Projects and Visio (Project and Visio experience is none essential).
