    Purpose of the role

    Colas is excited to announce the launch of our graduate programme for 2024 and have a fantastic opportunity for commercial candidates who are looking for a career in Civil Engineering, Highways and Infrastructure.

    The Colas Graduate Programme is a structured development programme that spans over 2 to 3 years.​ It is specifically designed to help graduates make a successful transition into the start of their professional career, by equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and behaviours.

    Our programme provides a diverse range of opportunities for development and to gain experiences that will enable graduates to gain the attributes required for professional accreditation in their chosen fields.

    Main Responsibilities

    Colas have an exciting opportunity for two Environmental Graduates to join our graduate programme. The Environmental Graduates will play a leading role at managing and coordinating Environmental Management within the Highways contract. They will ensure compliance and understanding of Environmental legislative requirements and play a key role at implementing robust control measures on contract.

    The Environmental Graduates will be involved but not limited to, the following duties:

    • advising on Environmental and Site waste management plans
    • delivery of project-based work assignments
    • understanding environmental contractual requirements
    • support Colas with innovations within the Highways sector promoting reductions with carbon and supporting reduced environmental impacts and working with the team on planning works
    • ensuring suitable surveys are being carried out, key environmental aspects, impacts and controls are included within environmental management plans / risk assessments

    Ideal Candidate

    Our graduate programme is open to graduates from all disciplines. The ideal candidates for this role will have a real passion for the environment and would like to make a change. The Environmental Graduates will have a degree in Environmental management or a similar degree. We are looking for candidates who are innovative, creative, and have a strong work ethic. You will be a team player and have good communication skills. Within this role, attention to detail, good analytical and IT skills are essential. A clean UK driving licence is essential for this programme.

    Package Description

    • A salary between £25,000 and £27,000 (dependent on experience)
