    Purpose of the role

    Colas is excited to announce the launch of our graduate programme for 2024 and has a fantastic opportunity for candidates with an interest in Civil Engineering, Highways and Infrastructure to join our teams.

    The Colas Graduate Programme is a structured development programme that spans over 2 to 3 years.​ It is specifically designed to help graduates make a successful transition into the start of their professional career, by equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and behaviours.​

    Our programme provides a diverse range of opportunities for development and to gain experiences that will enable graduates to gain the attributes required for professional accreditation in their chosen fields.

    Main Responsibilities

    A Civil Engineering Graduate is responsible for performing technical work according to their level of expertise. In this role, you will learn about various aspects of contract works, ranging from Term Maintenance, Asset Management functions, Major Projects design and build to surfacing and processes, you will assist the teams in all relevant projects and activities to meet Colas and the client objectives and needs.

    Working as part of a team, you will acquire a portfolio of technical knowledge and transferable skills that will give you a wide choice of career options within Colas. You will undertake work of a technical nature that falls within the ability and competence of a graduate and work within a team to manage existing projects and help deliver new schemes which meet the business objectives. To learn all aspects of contract works initially TMC type small works and asset management functions then moving on to LCR surfacing

    Ideal Candidate

    The ideal candidate a graduate engineer, a committed team player, have and understanding of the ICE and NEC conditions of the contract, have a good understanding of CDM regulations, have a good understanding of the Colas range of contracting activities, have the ability to organise and control subcontractors, be able to demonstrate the flexibility required to cover the necessary geographical area and various work disciplines.

    Our graduate programme is open to graduates from all disciplines who have a passion for the highways & Civil Engineering sector. We are looking for candidates who are innovative, creative, and have a strong work ethic. You should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a team. A driving license is essential.

    • A salary between £25,000 and £27,000 (dependent on experience)
