Cornwall Council has recently implemented a new capital model for the effective delivery of its capital programme which has an annual value of circa £250m across all Council services. Key to the implementation of the new model is the reporting and business intelligence function relating to overall programme performance. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at the start of the implementation of a new way of working and to take on the responsibility for improving the quality of reporting and data assurance relating to the overall programme. The role requires working closely with the Capital PMO and all Services across the Council to achieve this aim.
The successful applicant will be required to
- Provide advice, guidance and support on using Microsoft Project Online Management System (MSPO) to officers and external partners involved in the delivery of capital funded projects, primarily through the use of Power BI reporting
- Ensure that there is visibility of capital projects at a strategic level, highlighting potential issues and improving control over successful project delivery
- Be responsible for the co-ordination and provision of reporting on capital projects at all levels within the organisation working into existing governance routes to ensure timely delivery of progress reports
The applicant should be familiar in the use of both Microsoft Project Online and Microsoft Excel and their related functionality and be competent in importing or exporting data through Power BI to improve the reporting accuracy.
The post holder will be required to advise senior management about progress of overall reporting requirements associated with delivery of capital projects and be adept at interpreting meaningful data from systems to inform management decisions. The role will involve engagement with a number of staff across many services to ensure that the information captured on the system is relevant and the associated reports deliver desired outputs. There will also be a requirement to engage with external organisations involved in the delivery of capital projects to ensure high standards of reporting are upheld.
