An exciting opportunity has arisen as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer in our Engineering team based in Northampton.
The Role
- To deliver engineering objectives set by the Principal Engineer, Senior Engineer and/or specific engineering Project Leader, working either individually or as part of a project team.
- To undertake CAD training to be able to produce engineering drawings.
- To learn company internal processes and systems relating to engineering releases and project delivery.
- Support testing activities on engine dynamometer or sub system rig by following the relevant procedures.
- Support engine or subsystem build technicians.
- Support instrumentation and data logging installations.
- To keep accurate records of all build and test activities undertaken.
- Analyse and present data from both build and test activity.
- Report, investigate and propose root cause, containment and solutions to issues encountered during build and test.
- Provide regular feedback, reports and meeting attendance as necessary to keep department & project management fully informed of project status.
- Ensure that the quality of work is compatible with the standards required within Cosworth and that all relevant standards are abided by.
- Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
- Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
Candidate Profile
- Good class degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant engineering subject.
- Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the operating principles of the internal combustion engine and its cooling, lubrication, air handling and control systems.
- Have a passion for engineering and problem solving.
- Able to interpret technical information to generate a logical series of actions based on the implementation of sound engineering practice.
- Able to communicate effectively on a technical level with other engineers and managers. This includes the compilation of written reports, oral communications and presentations.
- Able to show some understanding of the commercial and manufacturing implications of engineering actions.
- Have a good understanding of commonly used office software packages, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to improving skills through relevant training and experience.
