The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will join an already established Digital Spine and Middleware platform team within CBS. This role is responsible for providing the engineering skill and technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve production incidents or problems independently and escalate to Senior Infrastructure Engineers if required.
This role also implements agreed system enhancements with our Cloud Infrastructure. Completes tasks to agreed levels of quality, within stated timescales with no supervision. Looks for improvement opportunities within the team and its processes/procedures. An effective team member who provides support and guidance to peers and other team members. Contributes to team efficiency through the creation of accurate technical documentation.
- Responsible for independently troubleshooting and resolving all product and infrastructure service incidents
- Undertake technical tasks such as maintaining scripts, automating code, reviewing logs, assisting build and configuration activity and maintaining the technical estate.
- Effectively prioritise tasks to ensure high priority activities are completed first
- Support change and implementation where appropriate technical competence has been reached, and
- Maintain an enterprise view.
This role has a requirement to work in the office for 2 days per week as a minimum. This can be shared between Manchester and Coventry or based at either site.

About you
Essential skills
- Great knowledge of containers within AWS cloud, especially Kubernetes and Docker, and/or a thorough working knowledge of IBM Middleware technology, including API Connect.
- An excellent service mindset, with the priority being on excellent IT service.
- Experience with Kong, istio, Calico, Datadog, experience dealing with microservices and coding in Terraform
- A willingness to learn, a desire to embrace new technology and is open to a challenge.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Thorough, with good attention to detail.
- Deliver to agreed timescales.
Desirable skills
Be able to deliver clear and logical documentation for team members and end users to follow.
Flexible approach to working hours, including being part of a callout rota to meet own objectives and assist colleagues in meeting their objectives.
