Why this role is important for CPI’s work

As part of our growth and succession plans, CPI has an opportunity for a Junior Project Manager to join an established but expanding team based at Darlington at its National Biologics Manufacturing Centre. You will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering profound impact to the health and sustainability of the UK and global pharma economy through effective collaboration with project delivery teams.

The project management team have grown significantly in recent years to enable the business to plan, co-ordinate and control the complex and diverse activities of innovative grant funded research programmes and industrially viable commercial projects to enable novel processes and technology endeavours as well as build ongoing mutually beneficial business relationships.

The Junior Project Manager will be required to support and in some instances take overall responsibility for a limited number of internal and external small sized projects. In this role you will be required to deliver these projects successfully to meet time, quality and cost targets, realising measurable benefits and thereby ensuring customer satisfaction.

The National Biologics Manufacturing Centre in Darlington, provides a diverse range of bioprocessing and manufacturing challenges, below are a few highlights:

• Accelerating and de-risking the development of complex medicines, vaccine technologies and advanced therapeutics
• Supporting industry to prepare and implement digital biopharma 4.0 technologies

Collaborating with leading academic institutes and industrial partners to develop novel and leading technology advances

Key Responsibilities

Projects

• Take on project support tasks.
• Manage and deliver projects according to the agreed asset and resource plans, contracted deliverables and the agreed scope.
• Oversee the management of activities of the project delivery teams to ensure deliverables are being completed to defined expectations, first time to successfully deliver the contracted scope.
• Maintain frequent and detailed communication with all members of the team to ensure clarity at all times.
• Identify communicate and where necessary escalate deviations from the plan without unduly affecting the stated objectives and benefits and maintain clarity.
• Proactively manage foreseen project risks and mitigate issues as they arise, implementing corrective actions.
• Execute the project lessons learnt process to maximise learning from all projects during and after the execution, carrying out an internal review with the delivery team and actively seeking feedback from the customer; implement any corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.
• To manage project administration tasks, including creating and maintain the project stage document.

The person we are seeking

• Will be able to demonstrate understanding or experience of managing a project with financial and overall delivery responsibility.
• Will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, which are essential for the Junior Project Manager to establish a good rapport with customers from an early stage, then to develop a strong and constructive relationship with the delivery team.
• It would be advantageous if applicants demonstrate the ability to manage projects within a highly dynamic innovation R&D environment business
• Will have experience working as part of a team, with a pro-active ​“can-do” attitude are essential to delivering the role fully.
• Has proficient knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Essential

• Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in an Engineering/​Science or Business-related subject.
• Understanding of the fundamental project management process.

Desirable

• A recognised Project Management qualification.
